Three programs. One mission.
We empower Rio Grande Valley students with the financial literacy they need to thrive. Our programs are designed to equip the next generation with the knowledge to make better decisions for their future.
Money Smart Ambassador Program & Train the Trainer
BFCC's one-of-a-kind program has been changing lives since 2012. Through our Train the Trainer workshops, high school students and their teacher-mentors spend a full day learning FDIC Money Smart modules, practicing real-world scenarios, and building the confidence to teach their peers.

Students then work in teams to create original presentations, videos, or games on a financial topic of their choice — and compete at our annual Financial Education Summit for cash prizes. The best presentations are shared on school social media so even more students can learn.Â

Labor of Love:
Empowering Young Mothers
For young mothers at Lincoln Park High School in Brownsville working toward their diplomas during one of life's most challenging chapters, BFCC shows up. We deliver hands-on FDIC Money Smart financial education tailored specifically for these students — along with Dress for Success sessions, interview preparation, and a special luncheon with community leaders who share their own stories.
The workshops vary annually and are customized to the needs of the students. Some of the following are included:
- FDIC Money Smart modules: building a foundation for lifelong financial health
- Resume writing & interview prep: Opening doors to real opportunity
- Dress for Success: Professional development and confidence building
- Special luncheon: Community leaders sharing stories and inspiration
College Savings Program
It is never too early to start saving. BFCC's bilingual two-hour workshop brings together parents and students to plan for the future — together. Starting at the elementary level, we teach short-term and long-term saving, credit basics, and financial goal-setting through FDIC Money Smart modules.
The ultimate goal: open a real savings account at a local bank and build habits that last a lifetime. Because when families save together, communities grow stronger.
Additional Programs
